The Tally · National survey

Canada's national built environment digitalization survey.

The first count of how digital Canada’s built environment really is. 10–14 minutes, confidential, results shared with every respondent.

Industry-wide research, not a service. Separate from our free Snapshot Audit, which is always available.

Our approach

The diagnostic comes first. Always.

Generalist firms sell a package and find the work to fill it. We do the opposite. Every engagement opens with a fact-based diagnostic that establishes where the organization sits, prices the cost of standing still, and produces the plan the evidence requires — and the retained service that makes it stick.

The Snapshot Audit

A three-minute online self-assessment on claritybuilders.ai. A preliminary read across the five business dimensions — People, Process, Technology, Governance, Contracts. It opens the door. There is no cost and no obligation.

There is no pass or fail. Almost every organization is uneven — strong in one or two areas, exposed in another. That shape is the point: it tells you, and us, exactly where the highest-value work sits.

PART TWO · GOLD STANDARD ASSESSMENT

The Grounded Diagnostic

Your organization measured against the Clarity Builders reference library, with every finding cited to a source. It produces the evidence-based report and the Digitalization Plan — and the report is yours to keep, even if you stop there.

Four to eleven weeks, start to finish, depending on the size of the organization. That is elapsed time rather than effort — a good deal of it is the intake, the document handover and the interview calendars on your side.

What "grounded" actually means. The diagnostic is scored against your most recent relevant completed project: the project most likely to hold the artefacts, documents and delivery experience the 43 segments need. Every score traces to a cited document, a dated observation or a scored interview response. That grounding is what makes the score defensible in front of a council, a board or an auditor — and it is also what limits when the diagnostic can honestly be run again.

How the diagnostic works, step by step →

PART THREE · IMPLEMENTING AND SUSTAINING

Clarity Compass

Twelve months, renewed annually, available only to organizations that have completed the diagnostic. There is nothing to advance you on until there is a baseline.

A monthly ongoing model gets you past the biggest issue, sustaining the change. Formal quarterly checks and regular engagement on the segments your plan is actually working answer three questions: did anything move and can it be evidenced, did anything fall, and what is blocked and what does your sponsor need to unblock it. That third question is the one clients value most and the one no dashboard produces on its own.

Advisory work move the two or three things you decided to fix this year from started to finished. A reversion alert flags any segment that falls inside the quarter it fell, with the cause named — not in the same document as your renewal request.

In month eleven, the Annual Movement Report consolidates the year onto the same yardstick your baseline was set on. Segments that did not move are reported with the same prominence as segments that did. A movement report that only shows movement is marketing, and a sophisticated client will treat it that way.

Part four

The reset

Your maturity placement moves only at a Grounded Diagnostic. Re-scoring the same completed project proves nothing, because nothing about that project has changed.

When you and Clarity Builders agree that a newly completed, relevant project exists — one recent enough to have benefited from the Compass work — the diagnostic is re-run at a reduced re-baseline fee, and the cycle starts again on a new baseline. Don't worry, between diagnostics, progress is reported at segment level as evidence in place, never as a placement change.

Where a smaller organization has a long gap between suitable projects, an accommodation is agreed at the start of the engagement. It is not discovered at renewal.

Five outputs

What the diagnostic produces

Written in a register that withstands a rigorous review and is welcomed by all leadership teams.

A placement across four maturity levels

Where you sit today, scored on specific evidence across all five business dimensions — recorded separately, against 43 segments, because organizations are rarely even.

A priced cost of your current state

What the gap between current and target maturity is costing you in capital efficiency, operating performance, risk exposure and schedule certainty. Numbers, not adjectives.

A routing to the work the evidence requires

Which practice areas the findings actually require. The routing is honest — the diagnostic does not predetermine the work; the findings do.

A sequenced Digitalization Plan

Sequenced, costed, and tied to your procurement and budget cycles — dimension by dimension where placement is uneven.

A measurement baseline

The metrics against which Clarity Compass will report, agreed with you during the engagement. Value is measured, not asserted.

Boundaries, published

What we will not do

Every boundary below exists because the request gets made, and it deserves a written answer before it does.

We sell no software and take no licence revenue.

Where a referral relationship exists it is disclosed to you in writing. Neutrality is the asset: the same independence that makes a platform recommendation credible is what makes the maturity score credible.

We prepare you for independent assessment. We do not perform it or resell it.

Preparing a client and assessing a client cannot be the same contract. The separation is what the score is worth.

Drafted contract language goes to your lawyers, not around them.

Clause libraries are prepared for counsel to review, not in place of counsel.

We do not do the technical build inside the retainer.

Clarity Builders is a management consulting and change management team with built environment depth. We define requirements, draft governance, write procurement language and build capability. Digital twin implementation is priced as a separate project, and sold only where the asset data foundation already exists.

We do not recommend whatever we built last.

Where work sits outside what we do, we refer it — and the recommendation carries more weight precisely because we do not earn the delivery margin on it.

Start with evidence.

The Snapshot Audit is the fastest way to a preliminary read. The Grounded Diagnostic turns it into a plan.
